Necktie Knots: Kent Knot
If you are looking for an easy way to tie a necktie, then the Kent Knot might be the right way to tie a necktie for you. The Kent knot is very similar to the Four in Hand knot, but there are a few minor differences that make the Kent knot one of the smallest tie knots. This necktie knot is great if you are tall and have problems tying your neckties to the right length, or you are wearing a very thick necktie but don’t like the look of a huge tie knot.
Necktie Knots Instructions: Kent Knot
- Flip open your shirt’s collars, and place the tie around your neck. Make sure that you twist the wide end once around so that the back side of the tie is showing.
- Place the wide end behind the narrow side of the necktie.
- Then, wrap the wide end over the narrow part of the tie. The front side of the wide end of the necktie has to show. Create a loop with one hand while slightly tightening the unfinished necktie knots. Wrap the wide part of the necktie around the opposite end coming from your collar.
- Then, pull the wide end of the necktie through the loop. Before tightening any necktie knots make sure that the wide side of the tie lies centered over the knot. This will assure that the narrow side of the necktie will not show.
- Flip down your shirt’s collars and adjust the tie knot for the final finish.
